Construction Paper and Derby Days

Day 10

Psalm 51 (excerpt, from message version)

God, make a fresh start in me,
shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life.
Don't throw me out with the trash,
or fail to breathe holiness in me.
Bring me back from gray exile,
put a fresh wind in my sails!
Give me a job teaching rebels your ways
so the lost can find their way home.
Commute my death sentence, God, my salvation God,
and I'll sing anthems to your life-giving ways.
   Unbutton my lips, dear God;
I'll let loose with your praise.

Going through the motions doesn't please you,
a flawless performance is nothing to you.
   I learned God-worship
      when my pride was shattered.
   Heart-shattered lives ready for love
      don't for a moment escape God's notice.

Well, that about sums up my heart tonight! I am begging the Lord for this to be a season of singing, dancing and renewal. I feel Him moving already.

Random and Duplo

Day Nine

The Lord is teaching me new things every day. I am so thankful for my friends and the daily love and encouragement they lavish on me! I am very blessed indeed~

Wednesday Night is date night...perfect, middle of the week time to catch up, check in, and spend some quality time together. Normally after Chapter (I'm so happy that I am-a Kappa-Kappa-Kappa-Gamma...) Johnny and I go to a coffee shop to chat, read the Bible or some other book we are going through. Well, tonight for some reason we decided to take a break from our usual norm and randomly go to McDonalds because I had a craving for french fries. Then we went on next door to Walmart where we proceeded to dance in the aisles go through tons of $5 movies (but purchase none), walk through the Disney Princess toy aisle and pick up my second random craving of the night...Hint of Lime Tostidos.

Hint of Lime Tostidos have got to be one of the best salty foods ever produced. I simply love searching the bag for a particularly seasoned one and pop-ing it into my mouth, nearly puckering with salty-limey-ness. (if only they made a kind called "more than a hint of lime") Haha! Anywho, this is just a goofy post about our random date night...We had a great time!

Gummy Bears and Glee!

Day 8

I had a great time with Jesus today while I was driving to work in Wamego! I turned on Chris Tomlin Praise and Worship music and just loved spending some time in worship with The King! Such a blessing!

Sooooo Glee was on tonight! It was so fun to see all the characters, story lines and funny jokes! True confession time, I absolutely ADORE the clothes that Emma wears on Glee. I just think she is so cute and spunky and I think her little neat freak tendencies are crazy, yet oddly endearing and hilarious. I love all the characters! But tonight, I just want to write about her and talk about how precious she is!

Oh my goodness! I just think she is so stinkin cute! I want her wardrobe!!! I am so tempted right now to run out and get a ton of cute sweaters, pencil skirts, fun jewelry and adorable shoes/accessories!

Low Voices and Good Memories

Day Five, Day Six, Day Seven

I had such a fun trip to Arkansas! It was such a blessing to have a fun weekend with good friends. We had a lot of time to talk, laugh, eat good food and watch Andrew run!

Friday we got to Fayetteville late and went to the coffee shop "Common Grounds" to eat a late dinner. After that we talked and walked around a Dixon street for awhile before heading to bed!

Saturday we went to RICKS BAKERY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE Ricks. Here is their website...they have a gallery of all the cakes they make, wowza. They give "cake boss" or "ace of cakes" a run for their money!
They have the most delicious pastries, bagels, donuts, cake, cookies, muffins, coffee, etc...Walking into there is quite daunting!

There was also a display of the most adorable aprons ever! I have the sweetest boyfriend who knows about my affection for aprons and he insisted that he purchase one for a "surprise-just-because" day. (so cute!). This is what mine looks like!

I think my apron is so so so stinkin cute! I can't wait to bake some cookies or make some strawberry shortcake this week! Mmmm!

The rest of Saturday we watched the Razorback track team. Andrew did really well, getting a PR in the 110 Hurdles and making finals as well as running really well in his 400 Hurdles! It was so fun to sit in the sun, talk with Anna, Andrew's Girlfriend and just enjoy the track meet and being with people I love. Of course we made a sonic run for some soda in the afternoon and that evening went out to dinner! Clare and Lauren drove in from John Brown to join the gang at the pizza place.

It was a very fun weekend! Now I have to catch up on all the homework I didn't do because of the roadtrip!

The Lord is good! The weather outside today is absolutely beautiful! I love watching the seasons change and experiencing God's love through nature during that time!

4 Boys and A Roadtrip

Day Four

Today is a beautiful day. First of all, I feel a million times better than I did yesterday--so...HORRAY~! Second of all, I am going on a ROADTRIP to see my brother run track! I haven't seen Andrew since Christmas time, wowza. I can't even believe it has been that long. Also I went to see the razorback track team last year, but it was during indoor season, so this will be the first time I see him compete in college during outdoor season. I am also really excited to get to hang out with his beautiful and super cool girlfriend Anna. She is generously letting me stay at her house with her and I am sure we will have a blast!

We are getting ready to pack up and head out of town. So wish me luck, as I spend the next 5.5-7 hours in a car with four college boys: Johnny, Timmy, Jacob and Kyle. I am so outnumbered.

Love and Prayers,

P.S. God really laid the verses Colossians 3:1-4 on my heart this morning, check it out! We need to be setting our minds and hearts on things from above, not things of this world!

Kleenex and Matthew

Day Three

Well today I woke up to my 6:30 am alarm with a scratchy throat, stuffy nose and pounding head. Ugh. The dreaded spring cold...yuck. I took my temperature and with a low grade fever decided I had better email the teacher of my 7:30 class and hit the snooze button.

So today has been a lazy day, as I am trying to make my body get better and recover quickly so that I can go to Arkansas tomorrow and watch my studly and athletic twin brother run track! I have been drinking lots of water, vitamin C and resting, resting, resting!

At Kanakuk this year we are studying the Gospel Matthew. Some amazing Kamp friends of mine who were councilors with me last year challenged me to memorize the sermon on the mount. I was totally on board and really excited to get going. However, (much like many important, spiritual things lately) I somehow let it slip to the back burner and have found myself wayyy behind schedule. So I decided to use today to start catching up a bit. God has really been moving in my heart as I read and memorize his Word. I am so thankful that he has written this love letter to us, so that we can get to know him better and follow hard after his heart. I am absolutely humbled by the Lord and his unfailing love.

I covet your prayers today for really speedy healing so that I can feel better and enjoy the road trip to Arkansas tomorrow! Thanks so much!

Day three has been good, despite the sickies I am feeling closer to the Lord and that brings so much joy to my heart!

Disney Princesses and Rain Drops

Day Two

Day Two. I already feel like there is a spring in my step. I woke up this morning, read a few verses of Matthew and just spent a few minutes reflecting on the Love Christ has for us. I am just so humbled that the Lord of all creation is enthralled by us, no matter how jacked up we are. So unbelievable! I am getting ready to take a nap, then look forward spending some time in my prayer journal.

Last night I auditioned for Greek Idol at K-State. It is basically a singing competition that takes place during Greek Week. I found out kinda late in the game and wasn't sure what I should sing. Well, I decided the best choice would naturally be a Disney Song (no surprise to most of you!). I sang "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid! Shortly after my audition I received an email saying that I made it! Yay! I am really excited. I had the opportunity to sing in Greek Idol last year as well and I just loved it!

Anyway, that is the latest! I am about to crawl in bed for a quick snooze. I would love to fend off this could I am developing with a little extra zzzzz's.

Valleys and Rough Spots

Day One

This has been a difficult season. I feel like I have sort of drifted through life this past semester or so, failing to be very intentional about my spiritual journey. Well, God has layed strongly on my heart that this is the season for change. Forty days is a very significant amount of time in the Bible.
  • It rained for 40 days and 40 nights when God wanted to cleanse the world and start over.(Gen 7:12)

  • Moses was on the mountain with God for 40 days (TWICE) (Exodus 24:18, 34:28-29, Deuteronony 10:10)

  • Jonah warned the City of Nineveh they had 40 days until God would overthrow the city. The people repented in those 40 days and God spared the city.(Jonah 3:4, 10)

  • Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness (Matt. 3:17, 4:1-2)

  • Jesus was seen in the earth 40 days after His crucifixion (Acts 1:3)

So there you are, a few of the many examples of the significance of forty days. I am starting today. I am making the commitment to spend more time in prayer. I will also finish memorizing the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel Matthew. I will spend time enjoying God's presence through worship, meditation and study. I will allow the Word to impact, change and soften my heart.

Forty Days from today is also the day Johnny graduates from college. This is a significant change in our lives and relationship. I want to be prepared and grounded in the word and in prayer for all this next season holds. In 44 days we will be at Kanakuk for staff training immediately followed by first term. I want to be ready to impact the Kingdom and serve and love on kiddos with my whole heart. In order to do ministry effectively I MUST be disciplined and spending time with the Lord to be filled and pour out.

Day One....
Here we go! This is going to be such an amazing journey. The Lord is so faithful!

Facebook and Winning!

So this week I found out that a particular "fan page" on facebook (poetically entitled The Toilet Paper) was giving away a brand spakin' new Saddleback Leather Briefcase, to the individual who commented on their wall and had the most "interactions" or "feedback" on his/her post.

Well, I have been really wanting to get Johnny a Saddleback Briefcase for graduation, but that just isn't quite in the budget right now, so I thought "what the heck, I'll try". So for the next two days I became "That Girl" on facebook. Oh you know, the dreadfully annoying one who messages you asks you to take your precious time and energy to become a fan of some site, then post a comment or "like" the post...etc. Well, I pestered, annoyed, and barraged my facebook friends and acquaintances until the bitter end of the contest.

...And it payed off.

Johnny will be opening a beautifully crafted, leather, 100 year warrentee---briefcase for graduation!
